At Time To Thrive Nutrition, we offer body composition analysis to help you better understand what’s happening inside your body beyond just weight.

What Is an InBody Scan?

An InBody scan is a quick, non-invasive body composition assessment that takes just a few minutes to complete. Unlike a traditional scale, it looks at how your body is made up, not just how much you weigh.

Your results may include:
  • Skeletal muscle mass
  • Body fat mass and distribution
  • Segmental muscle analysis (arms, legs, trunk)
  • Visceral fat estimate
  • Hydration status
  • Estimated metabolic (calorie) needs

Our dietitians review these results with you in the context of your goals, training, hormones, lifestyle, and overall health.

Who Can Benefit From an
InBody Scan?

InBody scans can be especially helpful if you:
  • Are strength training or focused on body recomposition
  • Feel frustrated by scale plateaus
  • Are navigating perimenopause or menopause
  • Are postpartum and curious about changes in your body
  • Are an athlete monitoring fueling, recovery, or muscle balance
  • Want objective data without diet culture pressure

This tool is appropriate for many individuals and is always used thoughtfully and collaboratively.

We believe one number never tells the full story.
That’s why we:
  • Focus on trends over time, not single results
  • Interpret scans alongside nutrition intake, training, stress, sleep, and hormones
  • Use results to adjust fueling, not restrict it
  • Emphasize education and understanding, not “good” or “bad” outcomes

The scan is never the goal.  It’s simply one tool to guide your care.

How We Use InBody at Time To Thrive

What to Expect During Your Scan

  • The scan takes about 2–3 minutes
  • You’ll stand barefoot on the device while holding the hand electrodes
  • No needles, no discomfort
  • Results are reviewed with a dietitian and you’re never left to interpret data alone

We’ll walk through what matters for you and answer any questions you have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an InBody scan right for me?

An InBody scan can be helpful if you’re curious about how your body is responding to fueling, training, stress, or life changes. Many of our clients use this tool to better understand muscle mass, hydration, and overall body composition, especially during strength training, athletic seasons, postpartum transitions, or perimenopause and menopause.

That said, this tool isn’t required to work with our dietitians. We’ll always talk with you first and make sure it feels supportive and appropriate for you.

Return to Questions

Will I see my weight during the scan?

The InBody scan does measure weight, but we do not emphasize weight as a goal or outcome. Your dietitian will guide the conversation toward the information that’s most helpful for you, such as muscle mass, hydration, and overall trends.

If focusing on weight feels unhelpful or triggering, you can speak with your dietitian to see if the Inbody is right for you.

Return to Questions

How often should I get an InBody scan?

For most people, scanning every 1–3 months is recommended. This allows enough time to see meaningful changes without over-monitoring. Some clients choose quarterly scans, while others use scans at key transition points (like the start of a new training cycle, postpartum return to movement, menopause support, etc.).

Your dietitian can help you decide what makes sense for your goals.

Return to Questions

Is the scan safe?

Yes. The scan is non-invasive, painless, and takes just a few minutes. It uses a very low-level electrical current to estimate body composition.

If you are pregnant or have a pacemaker or implanted medical device, this scan is not recommended. Please reach out to us if you have questions about safety.

Return to Questions

Do I need to be a nutrition client to get a scan?

No. We offer standalone InBody scans with a brief review by a registered dietitian. This is a great option if you’re curious about body composition or exploring nutrition support.

If you choose to continue with ongoing nutrition counseling, your scan can help guide your care.
